Flower Hill Auto Body, Roslyn NY is a truly unique auto body shop. There are many reasons for this, but one of the biggest reasons is due to the fact that we offer carbon fiber and composite structural repair. Many auto body shop only offer repairs with more common material, such as steel. These materials are still require specialized training, but they simply don’t compare to carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is used in the construction of many high-end vehicles such as Aston Martin, McLaren, BMW, Audi, Porsche, and more. Fortunately, Flower Hill Auto Body is certified to repair all of these vehicles, and we are able to perform repairs with carbon fiber as well.
Understanding how Carbon Fiber Repairs Work
When the structure of a vehicle is made of carbon fiber, different work is required during repairs. At Flower Hill Auto Body, our skilled technicians are trained in composite structural repair. The reason carbon fiber repairs are more difficult is because technicians have to determine how many layers of carbon fiber are involved and what kind of carbon fiber cloth must be used. Because of carbon fiber’s composition, it is increasingly difficult to actually complete the repair. The repair process is done with a technique called “scarfing”. Scarfing involves using a tool to grind outwards, exposing each layer of carbon fiber cloth. Then, the repair is made at the center. Not just any technician is capable of doing this, which is why we say Flower Hill Auto Body is truly ahead of the competition.
Flower Hill Auto Body has been in business for over 60 years. That is three generations! Over time, we have truly learned how to run an auto body shop. This includes learning difficult techniques, such as learning how to complete carbon fiber repairs. It is so hard to find other auto body shops that have the skills and capabilities that we have, which is why we are so highly recommended.
