Carbon Fiber and Composite Structural Repair

Carbon fiber is used in the construction of many high-end vehicles such as Aston Martin, McLaren, BMW, Audi, Porsche, and more. When the structure of a vehicle is made of carbon fiber, different work is required.

The reason carbon fiber repairs are more difficult is that technicians have to determine how many layers of carbon fiber are involved and what kind of carbon fiber cloth must be used. Because of carbon fiber’s composition, it is increasingly difficult to complete the repair. The repair process is done with a technique called “scarfing”. Scarfing involves using a tool to grind outwards, exposing each layer of carbon fiber cloth. Then, the repair is made at the center. Not just any technician is capable of doing this, which is why we say Flower Hill Auto Body is truly ahead of the competition.
